Between works and thoughts

I’ve been commuting between Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna for almost three months now, and in the meantime, there have been several changes. At home, the work is progressing. In the room destined for the much-awaited boiler, thanks to an excavation, several useful centimeters have been gained for installing the accumulator, and the crawl space has been created.
But the work that impressed me the most was the "cleaning of the vaults." I still remember the photograph I saw more than a year ago on the Immobiliare Valtaro Valceno website. I said to Stefano, "I want that vaulted ceiling with the nails!" And I could only imagine its potential once freed from the ugly plaster and dirt residue. Now, all the stones are clearly visible, well arranged. This morning, Daniel explained the construction method to me. He showed me the joint point that, after the plastering, will no longer be visible and, most importantly, pointed out how the vault is detached from the walls, resting only on the pedestals. Incredible! In the past, with fewer resources, they built better than today!
These days, some storms have dulled the wonderful light of my first spring in Emilia-Romagna. But a beautiful rainbow greeted me on my return from Val Noveglia in Brunelli di Borgotaro. And for a moment, the Apennines reminded me, with their soft shape, of the sinuosity of the northern slope of Campo dei Fiori that I can see from Castello Cabiaglio. Am I already feeling a bit of homesickness for my Lombard land?
