We're finally going home!
Stefano and I were waiting for this day with great impatience. To be able to remove the chain at the entrance to the property, grab the bunch of keys and cross the threshold no longer as strangers, but as owners!
This morning there was a lot of emotion.
As soon as I parked near the river, I couldn't hold back my tears.
Finally the mill is ours and here we are starting the long journey that will lead us to the transfer.
We change (we brought with us tracksuits and worn-out sweaters), put on our new work gloves (Stefano's Christmas gift) and start looking around. Where to start?
I can't wait to touch the two tables and the wooden chest, the only pieces of furniture contained within some of the rooms. I can already see myself in a few months' time with my new sander (another gift from Ste) to give new life to these pieces of furniture full of history. And so, in less than no time we completely empty the structure of scraps of wood, iron, glass bottles and some doors. How wonderful! Together with those recovered from the former owner, there are exactly 6, the number we need! More work for my sander. "We'll have them whitewashed". Everything we can recover is put in the former stable.
The first day of work will be unforgettable. A warm sun has softened the fatigue, the silver color of the Ceno at sunset is already familiar and its flow in the distance is music.
At the end of the labor we decide to take a "tour of our estate". We realize that we have a lot of land. A flat area that will become a meadow and several paths in the wooded area that we want to reclaim. We will have to roll up our sleeves ... and I can't wait!
