The first snow at the mill

An unusual winter that seems to have become self-aware only a few weeks ago, finally giving us a few truly cold days, accompanied by brief but intense snowfalls. We immediately "rushed" to see the snow-covered Val Ceno, heading down to our property, which was completely covered by a first, yet substantial, layer of fresh snow. As we know, snow dampens sounds, and the place, already quiet on its own, appeared surreal. The only sound we could hear was the water of the Ceno, slightly enlivened by the snow that had fallen heavily upstream, keeping us company and preventing the feeling of isolation.
For the first time, we saw the house without many of the trees that had previously shaded it and obscured the view from the entrance path. The sensation we experienced was one of great airiness and breathability. Even more space.
The steps creaked on the snow, and as we walked on the meadows around the house, among the fallen trees and piles of wood just "roughly cut" from their trunks, we realized the work that awaited us in the coming weeks, at least regarding the cutting of wood and its necessary storage. It’s going to be fun with our new chainsaw!
This was also the weekend of confirming the company that will carry out the renovation work. Finally, we’ll be starting soon.
Caught up in the euphoria, on the way back to Lombardy, we stopped to browse inside a large furniture center and bought (bought!) our future kitchen. Totally different from what we had previously planned to install in the beautiful stone walls of our future home.
